Worried about contacting your GP? Your GP Surgery still expects and wants to hear from you if you need them. Don't hesitate to telephone your surgery, just don't go there in person.

CORONAVIRUS (COVID-19)

If you have a new, continuous cough and/or a high temperature and/or loss of taste and smell - or think that you may have coronavirus, DO NOT attend the GP surgery, pharmacy or hospital.

If you have the symptoms above, even if they are mild, you must stay at home and follow the national guidance.  Everyone who lives in your house must also stay at home and follow this guidance.

If you need to check your symptoms or for initial advice go to the NHS 111 online symptom checker

You should only contact NHS 111 by telephone if;

  • You feel you cannot cope with your symptoms at home
  • Your condition gets worse
  • Your symptoms do not get better after 7 days
  • You do not have access to the internet and are unable to contact NHS 111 online

IF YOU ARE SERIOUSLY UNWELL OR SHORT OF BREATH AND NEED URGENT MEDICAL ATTENTION CALL 999

If you do not have symptoms you should follow the current government rules for everyone and only leave your house for very few reasons; such as; shopping for essential items such as food and medicine or a medical need. See government guidance for details. Even when you leave the house it is important that you:

  • Stay 2 metres (6ft) away from other people
  • Wash your hands for 20 seconds as soon as you get home

YOU CAN SPREAD THE VIRUS EVEN IF YOU DON’T HAVE SYMPTOMS.
For up to date information about what you need to do to protect yourself and others, please visit the Public Health Wales website

How to get coronavirus support as an extremely vulnerable person
If you have a medical condition which makes you extremely vulnerable to coronavirus (COVID-19), you should have received a letter from the Chief Medical Officer. For more information go to this website

Testing and Contact Tracing
Members of the public who have symptoms of coronavirus - a new continuous cough, a fever, loss of smell or taste - can apply for a test within the first 5 days of having symptoms. If your test result is positive you will be asked to provide details of anyone you have been in close contact with so that they can also be tested. To apply for a test visit this website or telephone 119.

Mental Wellbeing
If you or someone in your family is experiencing mental health difficulties during this period you may find the following NHS website helpful.

GP Appointments
Remember that you can still ask for a GP appointment for a health problem not related to coronavirus. Please telephone the surgery for a telephone or video appointment.

Please do not mis-use urgent appointments or home visits because it causes other patients unnecessary distress, if doctor is tied up with something that is not a genuine emergency.
